My Chief of Staff (CoS) Adventure

My most personal role to date. The role that made my entire professional career make sense. The role that catapulted me into taking the leap and becoming a Consultant and an Independent Contractor. The role that provided me with crystal clear revelation of how God had been orchestrating my professional career 1 building block at a time.

What is a Chief of Staff

You may ask, what even is a Chief of Staff (CoS). In certain terms it is an ambiguous role and means a lot of different things to varying people. Many would even say it is a glorified administrative assistant role and I will tell you it is definitely not that; while acknowledging that Admin Assistants rock and that they have an amazing and meaningful role; it just is not the same as a Chief of Staff role. Consistently, the Chief of Staff role is a strategic one that typically works with a senior executive of a firm in all aspects of the day-to-day activities of the Exec.

Due to the visibility nature of the role, it is an extremely confidential role. Chiefs of Staff typically gain a glimpse behind the Executive veil or curtain of a company. Gaining visibility into the true inner most workings of a company while being a vault of withholding confidential and private information.

What I love most about the Chief of Staff role is being responsible for the Rhythm of the Business. The Chief of Staff is often referred to as the air traffic controller, the connector, the gatekeeper to the Exec, the glue, the quarterback and many other facilitation type titles and I agree with all of these. The key component of being an effective Chief of Staff is being flexible and having an innate ability to pivot and to do it quickly. The role provides the perfect opportunity for a win-win marriage between my full subset of expertise as I have discussed in previous entries via this blog and my professional aspirations.

operations management

The Chief of Staff must be a trusted confidant, partner and strategist. The role causes for one to be able to see the full forest and the big picture while still being able to be tactical and see every tree in the forest as well. The role is one where you must be willing to roll your sleeves up and jump into the action. The Chief of Staff role provides a new, fun and exciting adventure every day and I am Godly proud to say that I navigate this role with ease and enthusiasm moment by moment.

Reach out to me today to learn more. I am beyond happy to discuss with you how I offer my Chief of Staff services. More to come about this amazing role and my personal adventure with it in future blog entries.

With each entry we take a deeper dive into the how of this process; how the implementations really work, and how we make The Spectacular happen together.

Until next time, that’s all folks…
